Today, the Baku Serious Crimes Court chaired by Judge Sabuhi Huseynov continued the consideration of the trial against 11 persons accused of financing the terrorist organization ISIS. The accused were not taken to court. The reason is the infliction of bodily harm by the defendants at the previous hearing. Their relatives were also not allowed to the trial.
According to family members of the accused, their children have been on hunger strike for 14 days, which has caused serious health problems. The defendants deny the charges and demand an acquittal.
The defendants in this case Samir Gurbanov, Aladdin Ibishov, Shakhriyar Jabbarov, Aflatun Bayramov, Elgun Ismayilov, Tehran Gasimov, Orkhan Gurbanov, Amin Hasanov, Javid Ahmanov, Yusif Imanov, Samir Gurbanov and Babek Mammadli were arrested several years ago.
They are charged with articles: 167-2.2.1 (Illegal production, import, sale or distribution of literature, audio and video materials, goods and products of religious significance and other information materials of religious content), 167-3.1 (illegal circulation of religious extremist literature), 214 (terrorism) and 218 (creation of a criminal community) of the Criminal Code.
The trial began in February 2020. However, due to the pandemic, the trial was interrupted for a long time. On February 23 this year, at the next trial, the defendants cut their veins.
