Japanese portal highlights President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at SCO summit

Japan’s “ajmedia.jp” portal has published articles, highlighting key points from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Samarkand.

The articles, published in English and Japanese languages, said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev drew participants’ attention to Azerbaijan’s transport and logistics capabilities, saying that Azerbaijan has made significant contributions to the launch of regional connectivity projects such as East-West and North-South transportation corridors.

Touching upon the brilliant victory in the Second Karabakh War, Azerbaijani head of state noted that the resolution of the Karabakh conflict at the end of 2020 created new opportunities for the development of the transport connectivity projects in the region. Azerbaijani President emphasized that “once the Zangazur corridor is opened, it will further increase the transportation capabilities of the countries from the region and will be beneficial to all countries along the route.”

President Ilham Aliyev also mentioned that Azerbaijan presented the five basic principles for the peace agreement to Armenia based on the mutual recognition of two countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Touching upon the recent large-scale military provocations committed by Armenia on the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border on September 13, as well as the resolute repulse of provocations by Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the reports quoted Azerbaijani President as saying: “This provocation is a huge blow to the normalization process between two countries. All responsibility for this lies with the military-political leadership of Armenia.”

The articles also mentioned President’s Ilham Aliyev’s thoughts on Azerbaijan’s successful Chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, the second largest institution after the United Nations (UN), saying that Azerbaijan’s chairmanship was unanimously prolonged for one more year until 2023.

The articles also highlighted Azerbaijani President’s meetings with Chinese, Turkish, Uzbek and Russian leaders.
