ASTANA—President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan announced plans to broaden the nation’s trade relationship with Germany, aiming to increase exports across a variety of product categories while also bolstering energy cooperation.
According to Trend News Agency, during a recent meeting with Central Asian leaders and the German Chancellor, President Tokayev detailed Kazakhstan’s intent to expand its export range to Germany to include 100 product categories worth approximately $850 million. “Our goal is to enhance trade through the effective implementation of joint regional projects and by diversifying our export items,” he stated.
Tokayev further highlighted energy as a crucial area of collaboration, reaffirming Kazakhstan’s role as a significant and reliable supplier of energy resources to Germany. “We are ready to step up our oil exports and count on continued support from Germany to secure long-term and stable hydrocarbon supplies,” he added.
In the broader context of sustainable development, the President underscored the importance of transitioning towards alternative energy sources. He specifically pointed to a collaborative project involving Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to construct a green energy transmission line across the Caspian Sea to Europe. Tokayev invited German participation in this strategic initiative, emphasizing the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in developing hydrogen energy.
