Khankendi Recognized as Azerbaijani Territory by Russian Foreign Ministry


MOSCOW: In a recent statement during a weekly briefing, the Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed that Khankendi is recognized as part of Azerbaijan’s territory. This declaration was made by Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova in response to inquiries from an Armenian journalist.

According to Trend News Agency, Maria Zakharova clarified the status of Khankendi, emphasizing the application of Azerbaijani laws in the region. “As I understand it, we are talking about the territory of Azerbaijan. The laws of this country apply there,” Zakharova stated, reinforcing the official position of the Russian government regarding the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

This statement comes amidst ongoing discussions and sometimes contentious debates over regional territories following historical conflicts in the area. The affirmation by the Russian Foreign Ministry is seen as a significant acknowledgment of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty claims, potentially influencing diplomatic relations in the region.
