Kyrgyz President Zhaparov Highlights Strong Bilateral Ties with Germany in Astana Meeting

ASTANA—During a recent meeting with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed high regard for the friendly and growing relations between Kyrgyzstan and Germany, underscoring the mutual benefits of their partnership.

According to Trend News Agency, Zhaparov praised the depth of Kyrgyz-German relations, particularly highlighting the positive impact of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s official visit last year. “Kyrgyzstan sees Germany as a key partner within the European Union, and we are committed to further enhancing this relationship,” Zhaparov remarked.

The Kyrgyz leader pointed to the increasing trade turnover and economic ties as central aspects of the bilateral relationship, emphasizing the importance of German investments in Kyrgyzstan. “We are keen on attracting foreign investment and have taken significant steps to ensure a favorable environment for German investors, offering various incentives and safeguarding their rights,” he added.

Chancellor Scholz reciprocated the sentiments, affirming Germany’s readiness to continue strengthening the partnership. He identified the migration of Kyrgyz specialists to Germany as a critical area of mutual interest that benefits both countries, particularly German businesses in need of skilled workers.

The discussions occur ahead of Zhaparov’s scheduled participation in the second meeting of Central Asia – Germany heads of state, indicating a continued focus on strengthening regional and bilateral cooperation.
