Kyrgyzstan Welcomes New Canadian Aircraft for Domestic Routes

BISHKEK — Kyrgyzstan’s aviation sector marked a significant upgrade with the arrival of a new Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft from Canada, destined for the state-owned Asman Airlines. This acquisition is part of an ongoing effort to enhance domestic air travel within the country.

According to Trend News Agency, the turboprop aircraft, a recent addition to Asman Airlines’ fleet which is a subsidiary of Manas International Airport, is set to service all domestic routes. Ticket prices for these flights are expected to range from 2,100 to 3,300 som (approximately $25-$39). The inaugural flight utilizing the new aircraft will operate on the Bishkek-Osh route, scheduled for September 27.

Manasbek Samidinov, the head of Manas International Airport, shared details with local media about the airline’s future plans, including the acquisition of additional aircraft. “We expect to receive a second aircraft in early October 2024, a third in May, and a fourth by the end of 2025,” said Samidinov. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for efficient and reliable air travel across Kyrgyzstan.

The Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 is renowned for its efficiency and capacity, able to carry up to 80 passengers and covering distances up to 2,000 kilometers, making it ideal for regional travel.
