The Bulgarian capital Sofia will host the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships.

The statement came from acting president of the European Weightlifting Federation Maxim Agapitov.

He noted that the continental championship is scheduled for April in Sofia. The exact date of the competition will be determined later.

The last time Sofia hosted the tournament was in 2005. In general, the Bulgarian capital has already hosted five European Championships and one World Cup (1986).
