Nizami Ganjavi International Center Hosts High-Level Event at Munich Security Conference

Munich: A high-level event themed "Multilateralism in a Fractured Global Order Format" was organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center on the margins of the Munich Security Conference. The roundtable discussion focused on preserving the effectiveness and legitimacy of multilateralism amidst current geopolitical fragmentation, and potential reforms in the UN's activities after 80 years.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event was attended by about 40 high-level figures from over 15 countries, including senior UN officials, former heads of state and government, ministers, executives of regional organizations, and leading strategic experts. The sessions featured notable speakers such as Mukhtar Babayev, Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues and COP29 President; Prince Turki AlFaisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies of Saudi Arabia; Boris Tadic, former President of Serbia; Macky Sall, former President of Senegal; Eduards Stiprais, European Union Special Representative for Central Asia; Mar­a Fernanda Espinosa Garc©s, President of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly; Sodiq Safoyev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, and Sebastian Kurz, Austria's former Chancellor.

During a dedicated lunch session, several distinguished figures including Miguel ngel Moratinos, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations; Amr Moussa, former Secretary-General of the Arab League; Tzipi Livni, former Israeli Foreign Minister; George Papandreou, former Greek Prime Minister; Miroslav Lajc¡k, President of the United Nations General Assembly's 72nd session; Eldor Aripov, First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan, and Rovshan Muradov, Secretary-General of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, shared their insights on future areas of global collaboration.

Discussions centered on emerging collaborative frameworks in Central Asia and the South Caucasus, the strategic significance of the Trans-Caspian connection, and the role of post-conflict normalization processes and regional initiatives.
