Officials again visit Botanical Garden in Bishkek

Akylbek Japarov took part in the cleanup, which took place in the Botanical Garden named after Enver Gareev in Bishkek. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The head of the Cabinet took part in planting trees and got acquainted with the current state of the Botanical Garden.

The Botanical Garden named after Enver Gareev was founded in 1938 by decree of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Kyrgyz SSR No. 336 dated March 13, 1938. The garden turned 85 this year. This is the first research institution in the republic that began studying the local flora, enriching it by introducing plants from various countries of the world. The Botanical Garden is a research institute within the system of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The unique object is in a deplorable state. The main problem is the lack of funding from the state. The amount allocated annually is several times less than the required amount.

President Sadyr Japarov visited the Botanical Garden in March. He was presented with a project for the reconstruction of the facility. At the initial stage, the head of state instructed to reconstruct the upper 5-hectare part of the Botanical Garden, which is located on Gorky Street.
