President Ilham Aliyev received French minister of Europe and foreign affairs

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic Jean-Yves Le Drian.

The successful development of Azerbaijan-France friendly relations in political, economic and other areas was emphasized during the meeting. French companies long-term effective activities and numerous successful projects in Azerbaijans transport, space industry, infrastructure, agriculture and other sectors were stressed. It was noted that French companies were satisfied with their activities in Azerbaijan.

The sides discussed the issues of cooperation in energy sector. The importance of the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project was underlined, and the sides pointed out successful cooperation between SOCAR and TOTAL. The sides touched upon humanitarian cooperation, noting the contribution of the activity of the French lyceum in Baku to the strengthening of cooperation in this area.

French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the creation of the French-Azerbaijani University.

President Ilham Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijans position on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The head of state said Azerbaijans position is that the conflict must be solved soon based on international law and principles within the countrys territorial integrity.

Different aspects of future multifaceted cooperation between Azerbaijan and France were discussed during the meeting, which took place in a frank atmosphere.
