The EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kestusis Yankauskas was invited to the Foreign Ministry on April 16, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.
During the meeting FMA expressed a protest to Ambassador Jankauskas in connection with the meeting of the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar with the representative of the separatist regime of the Armenians of Karabakh David Babayan on April 14 in Armenia
The ambassador was told that EU representative Toivo Klaar should not take steps that ignore the new realities in the region after the end of the conflict, threaten a fragile peace and give unreasonable expectations to the other side, the statement said.
“The ambassador was informed that such actions of the EU special representative for the South Caucasus, Toivo Klaar, undermine the confidence of the Azerbaijani side in him,” the message said.
