The US drone flew over Crimea with its transponders turned off, violating the airspace use regime’s territory, Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

It was noted that after the unmanned aerial vehicle was detected, Russian air defense forces launched fighter jets.

“As a result of a sudden maneuver, the US unmanned aerial vehicle lost altitude, flew uncontrollably, and collided with the water. The Russian fighter jets did not use weapons against the US drone, did not collide with it, and returned safely to the airfield,” stated by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
