Scholz: Lifting sanctions possible after peace talks

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz explained in an interview on Saturday that sanctions against Russia could only be lifted after Kiev and Moscow have reached an agreement, emphasizing it could not be a “dictated peace”, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The chancellor commented that sanctions have caused a “significant impact” on the Russian economy noting “its development opportunities are severely impaired.” In an interview, Scholz reiterated his demands on Moscow to withdraw its troops from Ukraine, underlining nobody could “negotiate on their behalf, one way or the other.”

The head of the German government stated in an interview that Russia has not changed its position regarding the Ukrainian conflict, emphasizing that Moscow “has not achieved any of the goals mentioned at the beginning of the military operation.”
