When we got acquainted with the situation here, we witnessed the atrocities and inhumane treatment of the occupiers of these territories and were amazed.

The statement came from Sergei Markov, director of the Russian Institute for Political Studies, who is on a visit to Agdam on May 1, AZERTAC ‘s regional correspondent reports.

He expressed confidence that Aghdam will become a prosperous city again: “We are glad that Aghdam was liberated without losses as a result of Russian-mediated talks. We are proud that Russia has a share in achieving peace. We hope it will become a prosperous city again. “Schools, hospitals, residential buildings, roads, mosques will be built. We believe that after the restoration, there will be a happy life here again.”

“Failure to provide maps of mined areas is a gross violation of peace talks”

Sergei Markov said that during the visit they witnessed the mining of the liberated areas. “We know that Russian peacekeepers are also involved in clearing these areas. UN agencies should also help Azerbaijan in this work, because there are now millions of people injured by landmines in the world, and this is a global problem.

Armenia’s failure to provide maps of mined areas is a gross violation of peace talks. Failure to provide mine maps could result in more deaths in the future. Of course, as the initiator and guarantor of the peace agreement, Russia will try to provide Armenia with mine maps. Probably there are those mine maps. Armenian officers studied in Soviet military schools in Russia or Armenia. According to the regulations of Soviet military schools, two maps are prepared. One of these maps is presented to the military units and the other to the General Staff, where it is kept. Mine maps are not purposefully given to Azerbaijan in order to delay the process of restoration of the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, to cause more casualties. This is completely unacceptable, “he said.

“OSCE Minsk Group must take a different position”

Sergei Markov said that the OSCE Minsk Group should take a different position: “I think that Azerbaijan can raise the issue of removing France from the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group, because France does not justify itself as a co-chair and remains a mediator with its unequal position. I don’t think so. I think France can be replaced by any other European country, like Germany. ”
