Shusha to Enhance Cultural Landscape with New Victory Museum and Concert Hall

SHUSHA, Azerbaijan — In the wake of Azerbaijan’s restoration of sovereignty over its territories, the city of Shusha is set to enhance its cultural infrastructure with the construction of a new Victory Museum, a multifunctional concert hall, and a trade center. These developments are planned around the recently inaugurated Flag Square, according to an official from the State Reserve Department of Shusha City.

According to Trend News Agency, speaking to Trend News Agency, the Victory Museum and accompanying facilities aim to celebrate Azerbaijan’s military successes and cultural heritage, particularly following the recent victory in the second Karabakh war and subsequent anti-terrorist measures. The Flag Square itself, which opened on September 19 with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev, has already become a symbol of national pride.

Imranli detailed the construction features, noting that the Flag Square spans an area of 9,190 square meters, with 3,693 square meters dedicated to green spaces. The flagpole stands at 11.7 meters, surrounded by an amphitheater. Efforts were made to integrate the natural landscape into the design, preserving most of the perennial plants and incorporating native species such as plane trees. Modern amenities, including benches and a lighting system, have been installed to enhance the visitor experience.

These developments signify a major step in Shusha’s post-conflict reconstruction and aim to attract both tourists and locals to the historic city, reinforcing its status as a cultural hub in the region.
