The court leaves the former head of Jalilabad under arrest

On January 6, a preparatory meeting was held in the Lankaran Serious Crimes Court on the case of the former head of the executive power of the Jalilabad region, Namig Zeynalov.

During the meeting, the defense petitioned for the transfer of Zeynalov to house arrest.

The court dismissed the motion and scheduled a hearing on the merits for January 18.

Namig Zeynalov and a number of regional officials were detained on December 7, 2020 during a law enforcement operation in Jalilabad region. Zeynalov was fired.

He was charged with embezzlement, embezzlement with the use of his official position, abuse of office, repeated large-scale bribery and official forgery.
