The European Union correctly assesses the prospects for the development of relations with Azerbaijan

As stated by the President of Azerbaijan, it is time to think about peace and turn the page. Azerbaijan is ready for this. Of course, the European Union has the opportunity to contribute to this process.

The visit of the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel to Azerbaijan and the statements made in Baku confirmed that a new page has been opened in the development of relations between the Union and our country.

AZERTAG to Nurullayeva Hearts MP said in a statement.

He noted that the European Union correctly assesses the current level of relations with Azerbaijan, the position of official Baku and the prospects for the development of bilateral relations. This was confirmed by Charles Michel’s speech about raising relations to the level of a strategic partnership. It is also a fact that the European Union is the main trade partner of Azerbaijan, a third of the EU, ie 9 countries have signed documents on strategic partnership.

Noting that there are good economic opportunities for deepening cooperation between the parties, Nurullayeva said: “The settlement of the Karabakh conflict increases these opportunities. The attractiveness of the liberated areas for foreign investors in many areas – renewable energy, agriculture, tourism. The European Union also supports all efforts to strengthen lasting peace and regional cooperation in the region. As stated in the tripartite statement signed on November 10 last year after the Second Karabakh War, new opportunities have opened up for all communications in the region. “Armenia has no potential to hinder this process.”

He noted that one of the highlights of the EU official’s visit was that Charles Michel did not use the terms “Nagorno-Karabakh”, “status” and other terms in his meetings in Baku, and even called some current issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan a “dispute”. This suggests that the European Union is embracing the new reality of the 44-day war and taking this reality into account in its policy towards the region.
