The Regional Advisory Platform “3 + 3” was established

Meetings of the Consultative Regional Platform “3 + 3” will be held at least twice a year. This decision was made on December 10 at the founding meeting of the Consultative Regional Group with the participation of the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Russia and Turkey, announced Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov, commenting on the results of the Moscow meeting.

According to him, the parties exchanged views on the development of cooperation in the field of confidence-building, restoration, reconstruction and expansion of economic and transport ties in the region.

All participants approved the future accession of Georgia to this format. The Georgian side will also be informed about the results of the discussions.

The Deputy Minister noted that depending on the development of the consultation mechanism, meetings and discussions at a higher level can be organized.

The next meeting will be agreed through diplomatic channels, Khalafov added.

The “3 + 3” regional cooperation platform was proposed by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey and actively supported by Russia.

It presupposes multilateral cooperation between the three countries of the South Caucasus – Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia and their three neighbors – Iran, Russia and Turkey. Georgia, due to problems in relations with the Russian Federation, so far refrains from participating in this format.
