The Institute for World Politics has compiled a rating of public diplomacy based on the analysis of information published on the websites of Ukrainian embassies abroad and foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine.
Last year, despite the fact that foreign diplomats worked in a pandemic, many of them have shown that they can adapt to the new conditions, AZERTAC reports.
In compiling this rating, the Institute, as in the previous year, this time, based on the information on their official websites, evaluated the activities of diplomatic missions. The special assessment scale compiled by the institute takes into account the visits of heads of state, parliament and government, economic and political relations, dialogue with the diaspora.
Diplomatic missions of more than 100 foreign countries operate in Ukraine. Azerbaijani Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Elmira Akhundova is among the top five leaders of the “Public Diplomacy” rating in Ukraine.
The report of the institute reads: “Despite the fact that the authorized representative of Azerbaijan arrived in Ukraine in the spring of 2020 and presented his credentials to President Vladimir Zelensky, during this period he was able to attract the attention of the Ukrainian media. During the battles for the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity in Nagorno-Karabakh last autumn, the ambassador actively defended Azerbaijan’s position, using both official information and mobilizing his writing talent.
It should be noted that the first five leaders of the ranking include the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Albania in Ukraine, ethnic Azerbaijani Shahin Omarov.
