The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan decided to amend the government decree on compensation for the costs of repatriation to the Kyrgyz Republic of the bodies of Kyrgyzstanis who died abroad. The document has been submitted for public discussion.
The background statement says that the laws of the country prohibit the participation of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan in armed conflicts or military operations on the territory of a foreign state. Therefore, it is proposed to refuse payment of compensation if the national security authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic confirm the participation of the deceased in armed conflicts or military operations on the territory of a foreign state, without permission from the relevant government authorities.
In addition, the document proposes to revise the size of one-time payment to cover the costs of repatriation of bodies: to increase it for 39 countries, and to reduce — for 4 countries. The ministry notes that the proposal is justified by the prices for the preparation and transportation of bodies presented by funeral agencies in other countries.
«In order to ensure the availability of a one-time payment for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, in the case of repatriation of bodies from countries and regions not specified in the amount of the one-time payment, it is proposed to make a lump sum payment based on the actual cost of repatriation,» the document says.
