Turkmenistan Explores Nuclear Energy Cooperation with IAEA


ASHGABAT—Turkmenistan is advancing its collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, as discussed in a recent meeting between the Turkmen delegation and IAEA Deputy Director General Hua Liu at the agency’s 68th General Conference.



According to Trend News Agency, citing Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on leveraging nuclear technology in sectors like medicine, agriculture, environmental protection, and water resource management. Both parties expressed appreciation for the progress in developing a framework cooperation program that aims to enhance their collaborative efforts.



The Turkmen delegation also marked their presence at the opening ceremony of the 68th regular session of the IAEA General Conference, where they underscored the significance of international partnerships in nuclear technologies to promote sustainable development. This engagement highlights Turkmenistan’s commitment to integrating nuclear energy solutions into its national development strategies while adhering to international safety and security standards.
