UK signs security declaration with Sweden, Finland

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is signing on Wednesday security declarations with Sweden and Finland ahead of the two countries’ likely application to join NATO, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The declarations will “intensify intelligence sharing, accelerate joint military training, exercising and deployments, and bolster security across all three countries,” according to an official statement.

Johnson will express his support for Sweden and Finland’s NATO membership, but he also noted the declarations “are not a short term stop gap, but a long term commitment to bolster military ties and global stability, and fortify Europe’s defenses for generations to come.”
