Baku, Azerbaijan: At the Summit of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) in Baku, UNECE Executive Secretary Tatiana Molcean praised Azerbaijan’s decision to voluntarily contribute to the SPECA Fund. She highlighted SPECA’s revitalized activity and its increasing importance in the region, especially in the context of the recent United Nations General Assembly resolution.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Molcean pointed out the quintupled economic growth in the region’s countries despite global political challenges. She underscored the emergence of new opportunities, particularly in transit logistics and the green economy. SPECA’s role in fostering economic growth in the region was also noted, along with its potential for furthering regional connections and multilateral cooperation. The expectation for the establishment of SPECA’s Trust Fund and Azerbaijan’s leading contribution to this initiative were particularly commended, with hopes that other countries will follow suit.
