Uzbekistan Advances Green Data Center Project with Saudi DataVolt

TASHKENT—Uzbekistan and Saudi-based company DataVolt have intensified discussions to expedite the construction of a green data center in Uzbekistan, aimed at enhancing the country’s IT infrastructure capabilities.

According to Trend News Agency, the progress on the green data center project was a key topic during a recent meeting between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, and DataVolt’s General Director, Rajit Nanda. The meeting highlighted ongoing developments and reaffirmed both parties’ commitment to advancing this significant technological venture.

In a strategic move to bolster international collaboration, Nanda extended an invitation to the Uzbek ministry team to attend the upcoming Artificial Intelligence Summit in the United States, scheduled for September 26-27. DataVolt initiated construction of its inaugural data center in Uzbekistan on May 2. The facility, which is located within the IT Park territory, boasts a 10 MW capacity and is designed to support the computing needs of its residents. The project represents a substantial investment in Uzbekistan’s digital infrastructure, with the construction costs estimated at $150 million.

Furthermore, DataVolt’s commitment to Uzbekistan’s technological advancement is underscored by its broader investment strategy, with plans to invest up to $5 billion in various projects across the country by 2030.
