Uzbekistan and Egypt Move to Forge Joint Chamber of Commerce

TASHKENT — In a significant step to bolster bilateral economic relations, Uzbekistan and Egypt are advancing discussions to establish a joint chamber of commerce, aimed at enhancing trade and investment between the two nations.

According to Trend News Agency, the negotiations were highlighted during a recent meeting involving the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Uztextileprom Association, and Egypt’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The proposed chamber’s primary goals will include the development of trade relations, attraction of foreign direct investments, and promotion of cooperation across key sectors such as textiles, tourism, leather production, and pharmaceuticals.

The meeting also covered potential joint projects that could increase the export capabilities of both countries and incorporate modern technologies into their economic sectors. This follows earlier agreements between Uzbekistan and Egypt to escalate the practical implementation of joint investment initiatives and expand their trade volumes. These discussions took place in a G2B meeting format, bringing together officials from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade and executives from major Egyptian companies.
