Azerbaijani boxers secure 27 medals at ‘Heydar Aliyev Cup 2024’ international tournament


Junior Azerbaijani boxers clinched a total of 27 medals, comprising six golds, 10 silvers, and 11 bronzes, at the “Heydar Aliyev Cup-2024” international tournament held in Baku.

The six-day competition brought together 116 boxers from five countries.

Azerbaijan dominated the overall medal table, earning the Heydar Aliyev Cup. Georgia secured the second position, followed by Kazakhstan.

Azerbaijan to host Ski Mountaineering World Cup for the first time


Azerbaijan will host the Ski Mountaineering World Cup for the first time.

An application by the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation to host the competition in the country was successful and has been given the green light by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF).

According to the agreement, ISMF will hold the World Cup at the Shahdag Tourism Center and the event was included in the competition calendar of the international federation.

The World Cup is scheduled to be held on January 11-12, 2025 at the Shahdag Tourism Center.

The decision on the organization of the World Cup was made based on the results of the successful evaluation report prepared by the ISMF after the International Ski Mountaineering series competition, which was jointly organized by the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation and the Shahdag Tourism Center on March 9-10 this year.

Azerbaijani boxer triumphs at Hungarian tournament


Azerbaijani fighter Abbasgulu Shadlinski climbed on to the winner’s rostrum in the men’s 71kg weight class at the 73rd Gergely Bornemissza Memorial International Boxing Tournament 2024 held in the city of Eger, Hungary.

Another Azerbaijani boxer Taghi Nasibov snatched a silver medal in the youth 60kg weight division.
