Preliminary defense of Master’s theses at Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications held

The next online meeting of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) was held.

The preliminary defense of master’s theses was held at the meeting. The head of the department, Associate Professor Mehman Hasanov, Professor Bayram Ibrahimov and other employees of the department expressed their opinion about the general level of preparation of master’s theses. Research works conducted by undergraduates and their results were also brought to the attention of the department staff.

After the discussions, the level of preparation of dissertations was highly appreciated and a decision was made on admission to the defense.

AzTU employees honored with state awards

On June 12, the Ministry of Education held a ceremony of rewarding state awards to the employees of this higher educational institution for their services in the training of engineering personnel and the development of technical sciences in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Technical University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education, Emin Amrullayev, congratulated a group of AzTU faculty members on receiving high state awards and wished them success in their future activities.

The Student-rector met with groups’ representatives

An online meeting was held with the student-rector of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Ali Abdullazade, and representatives of groups I, II, III and IV courses of all faculties.

The goal was to get detailed information from the groups  representatives about the course of the summer exam session and to achieve solutions to the problems faced by students.  During the meeting, positive feedback was expressed about the course of the examination session.

The student-rector informed the participants of the meeting about the requests received in the online chat.

Statistics of the State Migration Service for May of 2021

During May of 2021, 7612 applications on extension of temporary staying period, issuance of temporary and permanent residence permits, acquisition, restoration and revocation of citizenship, establishment of citizenship and determination of refugee status, as well as issuance and extension of validity of work permits for carrying out labor activity were received. Each application was investigated individually in accordance with the requirements of the legislation and relevant decisions were made.

9479 applications for registration upon place of stay of foreigners and stateless persons were registered during the relevant period.

Moreover, 558 decisions were made by the State Migration Service on violation of the requirements of migration, as well as administrative legislation in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Number of COVID-19 cases worldwide surpasses 175 mln – WHO

The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection worldwide has surpassed 175 mln, increasing by more than 387,000 over the past 24 hours, according to TASS.

According to the data of the World Health Organization (WHO) published on Sunday, the number of fatalities has increased by more than 10,100 over 24 hours, surpassing 3.79 mln.

As of 16:01 Moscow time on June 13, the WHO received reports of 175,306,598 infections and 3,792,777 fatalities. The number of infections over 24 hours has increased by 387,209 while the fatalities rose by 10,158.

The WHO statistics takes into account only officially confirmed data on incidence and fatalities submitted by the states. The mark of 150 mln infections worldwide was surpassed on April 30. Thus, over less than a month and a half over 25 mln people were infected.

Over 48% of the infections reported to the WHO during the past 24 hours were in North and South America (187,256), followed by Southeast Asia (97,990), with Europe (42,288) in the third place.

According to the WHO, the majority of the infections were recorded in the US – 33,120,623, followed by India (29,439,989), Brazil (17,296,118), France (5,632,993), Turkey (5,325,435), Russia (5,208,687), the UK (4,558,498), Italy (4,243,482), Argentina (4,093,090), Spain (3,729,458), Germany (3,714,969) and Colombia (2,694,707).

Portugal’s Cancelo tests positive for virus, Dalot replaces him

Portugal defender Joao Cancelo on Sunday was removed from the national team squad over a positive coronavirus test result, the Portuguese football body said, according to Anadolu Agency.

“Diogo Dalot replaces Joao Cancelo. The AC Milan player will replace Joao Cancelo, who tested positive for Covid-19 following a rapid antigen test carried out this Saturday by the FPF Health and Performance Unit,” the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) said in a statement.

Manchester City’s Cancelo was taken into isolation and was said to be “doing well”.

Meanwhile, all players and national team members except Cancelo tested negative on Saturday.

Dalot will make his senior debut if he plays for Portugal during the ongoing EURO 2020 tournament.

The 22-year-old, who was loaned from Manchester United, spent the 2020-21 season in Italy’s Milan.

He played in 33 matches for Milan to score two goals.

EURO 2016 champions Portugal will respectively face Hungary, Germany and France in the Group F.
