President of European Council calls on Azerbaijan, Armenia to dialogue

“Protracted conflicts in the Eastern Partnership region are one of the key problems,” said Charles Michel, President of the European Council, APA reports.

He said that the EU supports further efforts to resolve conflicts within the norms and principles of international law: “European Union is always ready to play its role in preventing conflicts and helping to find solutions to existing conflicts. This includes trust-building, contributing to a sustainable and comprehensive solution, and supporting steps towards post-conflict rehabilitation.”

Charles Michel called on Azerbaijan, Armenia to dialogue: “Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia show how fragile the situation is. I believe that only political dialogue can lead to a lasting solution.”

French Ambassador extends condolences over the helicopter crash

French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zacharie Gross has extended condolences over the military helicopter crash, Ambassador wrote on Twitter, APA reports.

“I present my sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic helicopter crash in Garaheybat training ground, Khizi,” reads the tweet.

UN Court to rule on Azerbaijan’s claims against Armenia and Armenia v. Azerbaijan

The International Court of Justice will rule on December 7 on Azerbaijan’s suit against Armenia for violating the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. This is stated on the court’s website.

A similar ruling by Armenia will be issued on the same day in a lawsuit against Azerbaijan.

Note that Azerbaijan and Armenia filed lawsuits against each other in September this year. The mutual accusations were about discrimination of citizens on the grounds of national origin, ethnic cleansing and incitement to hatred.

In October, the UN court in the Hague held hearings on Azerbaijan’s claim against Armenia and on Armenia’s claim against Azerbaijan.
