Benzema scores hat-trick in Real Madrid’s Champions League quarterfinal win vs Chelsea

Karim Benzema scored a back-to-back hat-trick in this season’s Champions League campaign as Real Madrid beat Chelsea 3-1 in a quarterfinals first leg clash Wednesday, according to Anadolu Agency.

The 34-year-old forward scored two stunning headers within three minutes to give Real Madrid a 2-0 lead before Kai Havertz reduced the deficit with a header near the end of the first half.

At the beginning of the second half, Benzema completed his hat-trick after capitalizing on a mistake by Edouard Mendy, making the score 3-1 at London’s Stamford Bridge stadium.

Benzema recorded his first hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 3-1 comeback win against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 round.

Real Madrid now have a big advantage heading into the second leg, which will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on April 12.

In another quarterfinals first leg match, Villarreal beat Bayern Munich 1-0 thanks to Arnaut Danjuma’s goal at home.

Villarreal will visit Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on April 12.

Barcelona, Eintracht Frankfurt to face off in Europa League quarterfinals

Spanish powerhouse Barcelona will take on Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt for the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals first leg on Thursday, according to Anadolu Agency.

With an impressive form over the last couple of months, the five-time Champions League winners Barcelona have been unbeaten since Jan. 20 under Spanish manager Xavi.

The Spanish powerhouse seek to seal their first Europa League title, while Eintracht Frankfurt will fight to win their second trophy after their maiden victory in 1980.

In the round of 16, Barcelona eliminated Turkish team Galatasaray, while Eintracht Frankfurt knocked Spanish team Real Betis out of the tournament.

The match will be held at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, officiated by Serbian Srdjan Jovanovic.

The quarterfinals second legs will be played on April 14.

Europa League quarterfinals first leg fixtures are as follows:

RB Leipzig – Atalanta

Eintracht Frankfurt – Barcelona

West Ham United – Olympique Lyon

Braga – Rangers.

MUSIAD Azerbaijan eyes integrating youth into business environment

BAKU, Azerbaijan,The main goal of the MUSIAD Azerbaijan Association’s youth structure is to integrate young people into the business environment, Tural Suleymanli, chairman of the structure, told Trend.

According to Suleymanli, the structure is implementing various programs in this direction.

“All conditions have been created in Azerbaijan for the effective leisure of young people. We are also working to contribute to this activity,” he said.

The chairman noted that in order to integrate young people into the business environment, they definitely need practical experience.

“For this, we regularly organize meetings of young people with businessmen who are members of our structure,” he added.

According to him, one of these meetings, dedicated to the integration of youth into the business environment, was held on March 29 this year at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).

“The event was organized by the youth structure of MUSIAD Azerbaijan, the UNEC student trade union and the UNEC Omurboyu educational center,” Suleymanli said.

He noted that at this event, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Turkic World of UNEC, Professor, Dr. Mehmet Yuce told the meeting participants, in particular students, about his experience in the field of education and career, and also shared his opinion on how to make the right choice in a career.

Suleymanli added that the organization of such meetings will continue.

MUSIAD Azerbaijan is the Azerbaijani branch of the Turkish Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MUSIAD).

Azerbaijan, World Bank discuss possible impact of regional processes on country’s economy

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has met with World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Sebastian Molineus and his colleagues.

“During the meeting with the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Sebastian Molineus and his colleagues, we discussed socio-economic development of our country, the implementation of joint projects and the possible impact of regional processes on the Azerbaijani economy,” Minister Jabbarov said.
