Russia expels 40 German diplomatic staff in tit-for-tat move

Russia’s foreign ministry said on Monday that it had declared 40 German diplomatic staff “personae non gratae” in a retaliatory move after Berlin expelled the same number of Russian diplomats, APA reports.

In a statement, Russia’s foreign ministry said it had taken the decision after Germany on April 4 declared a “significant number” of officials at the Russian embassy in Berlin “undesirable.

Exemplary civil defense exercise held with civil defense teams in Aghdash district

The Aran Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations held an exemplary civil defense exercise on warning and gathering with the Aghdash district non-militarized areal civil defense teams.

The relevant structural units of the Aran Regional Center, Civil Defense Headquarters of the Agdash District Executive Authority and the Emergency Situations Commission, staff of the areal civil defense forces were involved in the event on the theme “Activities of non-militarized areal civil defense teams on warning gathering alarm in case of emergencies”.

The exercise aimed at checking the level of quick readiness of the areal civil defense forces to respond to emergencies and coordinating joint activities in crisis situations, improving the management knowledge and skills of the command staff, and instilling practical skills in alerting staff.

During the exercise, activities on warning non-militarized areal civil defense teams on the emergency situations, marching to the gathering point, organizing assembly and management were checked, as well as reports on functional duties were heard.

In the end, the exercise was analyzed, shortcomings were noted and relevant instructions were given.

Plane crash kills two in northwestern Turkey’s Bursa

A single-engine plane crashed in a residential area in Bursa, a northwestern Turkish province. The plane was flying near Yunuseli Airport, a hub for training flights when it crashed, APA reports citing Daily Sabah.

The cause of the crash is not clear yet, while the wreckage of the plane caught fire after the crash.

Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat said a flight instructor and trainee pilot were killed in the crash while nobody was injured. Images from the scene showed flames rising among buildings where the plane crashed, with people rushing out of their homes.

The governor said the civilian training plane likely crashed due to “a technical reason” as the weather conditions were fit for the flight. The governor told reporters that the crash also damaged two houses and two vehicles.

In June 2021, another training plane crashed near the same area, nosediving into a nearby orchard. The flight instructor and trainee pilot were injured in the incident involving a Cessna airplane.

Putin: West failed to divide Russian society

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that the West failed to divide the Russian society despite the “sanctions aggression” imposed upon Russia and its citizens, APA reports citing Teletrader.

According to the president, the Russian people showed “unity” like “never before,” emphasizing that attempts to destroy the society from within have failed. Also, Putin noted that all mechanisms used to support its citizens in the face of sanctions should work “smoothly” at all levels.

During the board meeting at the Prosecutor General’s Office, the president stated, that the Russian Federal Security Service stopped a “terrorist group” that planned attacks targeting prominent Russian journalists.

Lightning, hail forecasted in Azerbaijan

The weather will be mainly rainless across the country. However, in the afternoon on April 26-28, local and short-term showers are expected in some mountainous and foothill areas, the National Hydrometeorological Service has reported.

Azerbaijan has not yet detected a single case of infection with hepatitis virus of unknown origin among children

In accordance with the information disseminated by the World Health Organization, infection with the hepatitis virus of unknown origin spread in Europe and the US among children has been discovered in 11 countries so far, noted in the joint information of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance and Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), APA reports.

The epidemiological situation has been immediately investigated in the republic by the health institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In accordance with the results, infection cases with the hepatitis virus from an unknown origin have not been discovered among children in Azerbaijan so far.
