White House: Russia’s ‘weaponizing’ energy has been expected

The White House on Wednesday said Russia was essentially weaponizing energy supplies by cutting off Poland and Bulgaria from Russian gas supplies, APA reports citing Reuters.

“Unfortunately this is the type of step, the type of almost weaponizing energy supplies, that was predicted,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters.

Minister: “We highly appreciate agreement on Azerbaijani-Georgian border checkpoints”

“Our countries have economic relations in a bilateral format,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov at a joint press conference with Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili, APA reports.

Minister has noted that besides it, countries are partners in multilateral projects too: “We can assess Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum projects as the success of our relations. Baku-Tbilisi-Kars has a historical significance. The current situation further increases importance of the East-West Corridor. In this regard, if we speak about numerous works here, mutually beneficial cooperation between two countries has great importance for the successful development of such routes in 2021. From this point of view, we highly appreciate the significance of the agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Georgia on border checkpoints. The agreement will greatly contribute to improving issues in the fields of logistics, and transit,” Minister added.

30th anniversary of Azerbaijani-Hungarian relation the occasion event held-PHOTO

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted an event and exhibition on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Hungary, Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as embassy staff.

The event began with the national anthems of both countries.

Adressed at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov said that relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Hungary have been developing on the basis of friendship and mutual respect for 30 years. Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov noted with satisfaction that Hungary supported Azerbaijan’s rightful position during the former Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as in the 44-day war, and now participates in the reconstruction and construction work in the liberated territories during the post-conflict period. Khalafov also noted the existence of fruitful cooperation between our countries, both bilaterally and multilaterally, within international organizations, especially within the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States.

Speaking later, Hungarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Viktor Szederkenyi said he should be proud of the achievements in the development of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary over the past 30 years. The ambassador noted with satisfaction the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres, noting the existing legal framework between the two countries, as well as conditioned at the level of contact of the leadership of both countries.Viktor Szederkenyi also conveyed his sincere congratulations on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

At the end of the event, the participants got acquainted with a photo exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary.

Foreign Minister: “We expect concrete steps from Armenia on roads and railways”

“Azerbaijan is successfully implementing both railway and highway projects on its territory,” said Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press briefing with Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, APA reports.

The Minister said that Azerbaijan plans to complete its share by 2023: “We expect such concrete steps from Armenia as well. The processes in the region, especially the normalization of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations, are primarily of interest to the three countries in the South Caucasus. The Georgian side also supports it. Besides, when we consider the South Caucasus as our common home, the Azerbaijani-Georgian cooperation can be used as a model in this regard. This is a model for any two neighboring countries. Of course, Armenia can also take its place in international projects by complying with the norms and principles of international law,” he said.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan expressed gratitude Turkey

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan expressed gratitude to Turkey, Sullivan posted on Twitter, APA reports.

“As we welcome home Trevor Reed, we are grateful to Turkey for its role in making his safe return possible. We appreciate our Turkish partners’ assistance on this important matter,” said Sullivan.

Note that Russia and the United States swapped prisoners.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that Trevor Reed, a US citizen imprisoned in Russia, and Konstantin Yaroshenko, a pilot imprisoned in the United States, have been exchanged.

Recall that Russian citizen Konstantin Yaroshenko was sentenced by a US court in 2010 to 20 years in prison.

Azerbaijani FM: “Our contacts with Armenia have some results”

“Azerbaijan and Georgia enjoy very successful cooperation within an international framework too,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov at a joint press conference with Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili, APA reports.

According to FM, the coordination will also continue in the future: “Projects. which have been realized regarding the liberated territories over the recent year, their current condition, our plans for the coming years, and projects on the return of IDPs there have been delivered to the opposite side at today’s meeting. After putting an end to the conflict, one of the priority issues for us is the provision of sustainable peace in the region. I have had an opportunity to conduct negotiations in this regard with my counterpart. We have already had some results as a result of our contacts with Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I have already had two telephone conversations with Armenian FM. There is already condition for the start of Commission on delimitation and demarcation of borders to operate.”
