Death toll in Brazilian floods rises to 106, 10 still missing

At least 106 people have died and 10 are still missing in Brazil, the government said on Tuesday, as heavy rains tore through urban towns in the northeastern part of the country for a sixth consecutive day, according to Reuters.

The governor of the northeastern state of Pernambuco, Paulo Camara, in an interview with local media, said the government’s priority was to find those still missing amid mudslides and major flooding.

The National Civil Defense said on Twitter that an alert was in place for the “very high” possibility of more flooding in Pernambuco, including its capital, Recife.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro visited the state on Tuesday and flew over the affected areas. He promised to send help and resources to families who had been impacted.

Azerbaijani PM meets with bp delegation

Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has met with bp Executive Vice President for Production & Operations Gordon Birrell and Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkiye Gary Jones.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and bp.

They stressed the importance of projects implemented by bp in Azerbaijan. In this context, the sides touched upon the negotiations with bp on the construction of a solar power plant in the liberated territories.

Azerbaijani FM meets with President of Bulgarian National Assembly

As part of his official visit to Sofia, Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria Nikola Minchev.

Nikola Minchev welcomed the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and noted that the visit would make a positive contribution to the development of relations between the two countries.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said a useful exchange of views took place within the framework of the second strategic dialogue meeting between the two countries. The minister noted that the parliamentary dimension is an important aspect of bilateral relations. He presented a congratulatory letter from Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova to Nikola Minchev on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The President of the National Assembly expressed his gratitude for the letter and conveyed mutual congratulations.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that the two countries have prospects for cooperation in energy, economy, humanitarian sphere, as well as education, culture, and tourism.

FM Bayramov thanked his interlocutor for the adoption of the declaration on the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide in the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed Nikola Minchev about the situation in the region after the conflict, the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated areas.

The sides discussed other issues of mutual interest.

Azerbaijan, Bulgaria discuss prospects for cooperation

During his official visit to Sofia, Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev.

President Rumen Radev stressed the importance of the current visit, which took place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in terms of further development of relations. President Rumen Radev noted the high level of development of relations with friendly Azerbaijan over the past three decades in many areas. Noting that he had sent an invitation to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Bulgarian President said that the visit would make a positive contribution to the further expansion of relations not only between the two countries, but also between the two regions.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked for the reception and conveyed the cordial greetings of the President of Azerbaijan to the President of Bulgaria. The minister noted that a very useful exchange of views took place with his Bulgarian counterpart during the second strategic dialogue meeting in Sofia.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on prospects for cooperation in energy, economy and trade, information technology, agriculture, tourism, education and culture. It was noted that Azerbaijan is a reliable partner of Bulgaria, as well as the European Union, in the energy sector.

FM Bayramov informed the Bulgarian President on the post-conflict situation in the region, including the work carried out by the government of Azerbaijan towards the restoration and reconstruction of the liberated territories and peacebuilding. The intention of the Bulgarian side to support the demining process in the liberated areas was highly regarded.

Teodora Genchovska: Bulgaria is ready to contribute to demining process in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Bulgarian counterpart Teodora Genchovska in Sofia.

The meeting, which began tete-a-tete between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, continued with a strategic dialogue meeting with the participation of delegations from both sides.

Minister Teodora Genchovska cordially greeted her Azerbaijani counterpart and stressed the importance of the visit, which took place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. She hailed the development of cooperation between the two countries over the past 30 years in a number of areas, including energy, transport and communications, tourism and others.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked his counterpart for the invitation and noted that the holding of the second strategic dialogue meeting between the two countries on the eve of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations was also symbolic. The minister said that relations between the two countries are developing in the spirit of respect for the principles of international law and mutual understanding. He stressed that the high-level political dialogue between the two countries is accompanied by positive dynamics in the economic sphere.

The FMs discussed the prospects for the development of relations in the energy sector, which forms the core of economic relations between the two countries, as well as in transport, information and communication technologies, agricultural, tourism, humanitarian and other fields. They expressed confidence that the next meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Bulgaria, scheduled for this year, will make a positive contribution to expanding bilateral cooperation.

Minister Bayramov informed his interlocutor about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the work done to eliminate the grave consequences of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, which lasted for nearly 30 years, including demining process, restoration and reconstruction in the liberated areas, as well as steps taken to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan’s position on ensuring peace and progress in the region.

Minister Teodora Genchovska expressed Bulgaria’s readiness to contribute to the demining process carried out by the Azerbaijani government.

The sides discussed issues of cooperation on a bilateral level, as well as within the framework of global and regional international organizations.

Following the meeting, the ministers got acquainted with the exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and made statements to the press.

I am confident that the relations between the Republic of Malta and the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue to evolve for the mutual benefit of our peoples.
