IAEA’s Director : Relatians between Azerbaijan, IAEA are on high level

Our relations with Azerbaijan are on a high level, said Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports.

 

He stressed that there is very active bilateral cooperation: “IAEA helps Azerbaijan in different fields”.

 

Rafael Grossi highlighted that this cooperation is especially related to medicines in the field of agriculture.

IAEA General Director speaks about Metsamor nuclear power station

“Security steps are ensured in a nuclear power station in Armenia. Previously, there were some discussions about ensuring security here,” said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, APA reports.

“There is an IAEA mission there and we are in contact with our Armenian partners for ensuring security measures,” he noted.

Participants of NAM Summit-level meeting in Baku pay tribute to memory of Turkiye and Syria earthquake victims-UPDATED

The Turkiye and Syria earthquake victims were remembered with a one-minute silence at the suggestion of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the Summit-level meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group in Baku.

 

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said: “Before starting our deliberations, I want to draw your attention to the following. As you all know, a few weeks ago, a devastating earthquake happened in Turkiye and Syria. Being one of the most tragic natural disasters of our times the earthquake claims the lives of tens of thousands of people. I invite all participants of this summit to stand and observe a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives. We convey our deepest sadness on this terrible disaster and extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.”

 

At the summit meeting of the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement on the fight against COVID-19 in Baku, those who died in the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria were commemorated, APA reports.

 

At the opening of the Summit, a minute’s silence was held in memory of those who died as a result of a strong earthquake in Türkiye and Syria.

Iranian and Russian ambassadors to Azerbaijan met

Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Seid Abbas Mousavi met with the Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov, said the Iranian embassy on social media, APA reports.

 

The diplomats discussed the latest developments in the South Caucasus, the 3+3 initiative, as well as cooperation in the economic field between the two countries, and also North-South corridor.

Azerbaijan’s MES athletes achieved success in international tournament-PHOTO-PHOTO

On February 23-26, the Karate 1-Youth League tournament among children, teenagers, and youths was held in the city of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, organized by the World Karate Federation, APA reports citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan.

 

More than 1100 athletes from 67 countries competed in the tournament. Members of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the national team of Azerbaijan, European junior champion Nijat Karimli and bronze medalist of Karate League 3 Nihad Karimzade participated in the karate competition.

 

Nijat Karimli won the silver medal in the tournament by having 4 fights in the 75 kg kumite competition.
