Investments in Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions grow by 3.1 times

In the first quarter of this year, 1 million 130.5 million manats ($665 million) were invested in fixed assets in the Karabakh and East-Zangezur economic regions as the territories liberated from the Armenian occupation.This is up by 3.1 times from an appropriate period of 2022, the State Statistics Committee told Turan. Thus, capital investments in East Zangezur region for January-March made up AZN 664 million (+3.3 times) that exceeds 2.5 times the volume of investments in fixed assets for 2021. At that, 99% of the funds was spent on construction and installation operations. In Zangelan region there was invested AZN 64.5 million (+9.7%), Jabrayil region – AZN 108.7 million (+46.1%), Kelbajar regin – AZN 236.1 million (31.1 times growth), Lachin region – AZN 204.3 million (5.8 times growth), Gubadly region – AZN 50.3 million (+83.4%). The growth of investments in Karabakh region for the first quarter amounted to 2.9 times. In the first quarter of this year, 665,5 mln AZN was invested in the region’s fixed capital. Three regions accounted for 88.4% of those investments. It has to be kept in mind that the Azerbaijani government continues the policy of dosed information about the projects carried out in the territories liberated from the occupation, including the design estimates and contractual costs of the projects. Contractors and suppliers of goods to the region are selected mainly through non-transparent schemes rather than competitive bidding.

Gas prices in Europe dropped to 330 dollars

The price of gas futures in Europe decreased by 0.4% at the end of Tuesday’s trading, to $ 330.4 per thousand cubic meters, the London ICE exchange. June (upcoming) futures on the TTF index (Europe’s largest hub located in the Netherlands) opened trading at $ 325.2 per thousand cubic meters (-2%). The price minimum on Tuesday was $ 321.2 (-3.2%), the price maximum was $333.9 (+0.6%). The dynamics of quotations is given from the estimated price of the previous trading day – $ 331.8 per thousand cubic meters.

China in April increased oil production by 1.4%, gas – by 7%

In April 2023, China increased oil production by 1.4%, up to 17.28 million tons compared to the same month last year, the State Statistical Office. In January-April, production amounted to 69.64 million tons of oil, by 1.8% higher than in the same period a year earlier. The volume of oil refining last month soared by 18.9% and amounted to 61.14 million tons, the second indicator for the entire time of calculations. The strong growth is due, among other things, to a low comparison base, since in April 2022 the demand for refined petroleum products was low due to lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In four months, the production of petroleum products in the country increased by 8.3% to 240.18 million tons. In April, natural gas production in China increased by 7% and reached 18.9 bcm, since the beginning of this year – by 4.8%, to 78.3 bcm. Oil imports in April amounted to 42.41 million tons, by 1.4% less than in the same month of last year. Meanwhile, in four months, deliveries increased by 4.6% to 178.77 million tons. Gas imports in April increased by 11% to 8.98 million tons. At the same time, in January-April, it decreased by 0.3% and amounted to 35.69 million tons.

Azerbaijan administers 167 COVID-19 jabs in 24 hours

Azerbaijan administered a total of 167 COVID-19 jabs on Wednesday, the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers told AZERTAC. Azerbaijan has administered nearly 14 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines since it launched an immunization drive in January 2021. More than 5.4 million people have received their first doses, while nearly 4.9 million people got their second doses.

Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan discuss cooperation in field of military medicine (PHOTO)

A delegation led by the Chief of the Medical Supply Department of the Uzbek Defense Ministry, colonel Nosirjon Fozilov visited the Azerbaijan Defense Ministry’s Medical Department, Trend reports.

Chief of the Medical Department of the Ministry of Defense, Medical service Major General Firudin Nabiyev greeted the guests.

Nabiyev informed the delegation about the organization of medical service in the Azerbaijani army, as well as the activities of military medical personnel in field conditions and extreme situation during the second Karabakh war.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged their views on the prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of military medicine, as well as on other issues of mutual interest.

Then the guests from Uzbekistan got familiar with the Main Clinical Hospital, Central Military Polyclinic, Central Dental Polyclinic, Sanitary-Epidemiological Control Center, Forensic-Medical Expertise and Pathological Anatomy Center of the Ministry of Defense, and observed the activities of doctors serving in the field of military medicine.

Uzbekistan’s Qanot Sharq airline launches direct flights to Türkiye’s Istanbul

Uzbekistan’s Qanot Sharq airline will launch regular flights between Samarkand (Uzbekistan) and the largest city of Türkiye, Istanbul from June 1, 2023, Trend reports.

According to the operator Air Marakanda company, flights will be operated three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with departure from Samarkand at 7:00 (GMT+5).

Qanot Sharq – the first private airline in Uzbekistan, founded in 1998, specializes in cargo and charter passenger transportation.

Meanwhile, this airline launched a charter flight on the route Tashkent (Uzbekistan) – Tel Aviv (Israel) – Samarkand (Uzbekistan) in early May this year.
