Land plot for waste sorting line prepared at sanitary landfill

Preparatory work is underway to install the first mobile waste sorting line at the Bishkek sanitary landfill. Press service of the City Hall reported.

ReGreen specialists have determined the location of the future waste processing plant and are preparing a land plot for a mobile waste sorting line. It is planned to create about 80 jobs after its installation.

At the same time, LIKAB specialists are developing a feasibility study for a waste processing complex. Completion is expected by the end of September.

«The issue of transfer of 20 percent of the cost of building the large plant from investors to an account in a local bank is being decided to start work,» the City Hall added.

The City Hall reminded that a tender was held in May 2023 for the installation of the sorting line. The winner was ReGreen company. An agreement was signed between the representatives of the company and the City Hall of Bishkek on the installation of a mobile waste sorting line.

City Hall of the capital signed a protocol of intent to cooperate with the Czech consortium of companies HDT Impex s.r.o. and ReGreen s.r.o. and a roadmap for the implementation of a joint investment project for the construction of a waste processing complex.

The project for the reclamation of the Bishkek sanitary landfill and improvement of the situation with the disposal of municipal solid waste in the city began to be prepared back in 2011, the loan agreement was signed only in 2013, and ratified in 2015. As part of the project, EBRD and the European Union allocated €22 million in the form of a grant and a loan. A little over €6 million is left of the allocated amount.

New well drilled in Kalys-Ordo residential area in Bishkek

A new well was drilled in Kalys-Ordo residential area. Press service of the City Hall reported.

According to it, the depth of the well is 240 meters.

«Work is underway to connect electrical networks, and drilling of the second well has also begun, the depth of which will also be 240 meters,» the noted.

Drilling works are carried out by GlavTechInvest LLC contracting organization.

Sponsors help install bins for separate waste collection in Bishkek

At the initiative of Sverdlovsky district of Bishkek, bins for separate waste collection were installed at the expense of sponsors. Press service of the City Hall reported.

At the first stage, 10 bins were made, they were installed along the sidewalks in Vostok-5 microdistrict (Arbat), at the intersection of Chui Avenue and Kurmanjan Datka Street, Bokonbaev and Abdrakhmanov Streets, Chui Avenue and Gogol Street, as well as near Kyrgyz National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater and opposite Kyrgyztelecom JSC.

City Hall of the capital thanks the sponsors, and asks residents and guests to bring garbage to the trash cans and bins, not to damage municipal property and respect the work of city employees.

The units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations managed to cope with the fire and prevent a forest fire in Khachmaz. The fire broke out in an open area in the village of Sibiroba, Khachmaz region, near a forest area, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan reports. Uzbekistan sees surge in trade turnover in 1H2023

Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover from January through June 2023 amounted to $29.2 billion, Trend reports.

According to the data published by the statistics committee of the country, this figure increased by $4.7 billion, or 19.4 percent, year-on-year ($24.4 billion from January through June 2022).

In particular, Uzbekistan’s exports in the reporting period of 2023 totaled over $12 billion, which is an increase of 23 percent, compared to the same period last year ($9.8 billion). The country’s exports accounted for 41.6 percent of the total trade turnover in the reporting period of the current year.

At the same time, the country’s imports from January through June 2023, growing by 17 percent year-on-year ($14.5 billion in Jan.-Jun. 2022), amounted to $17 billion. Moreover, Uzbekistan’s imports accounted for 58.4 percent of the total trade turnover of the country.

The resulting trade balance was negative, amounting to $4.8 billion ($4.6 billion over the reporting period of 2022).

As of today, Uzbekistan has established trade relations with 183 countries worldwide. The highest foreign trade volume is recorded with China (18.1 percent), Russia (15.1 percent), Kazakhstan (7.5 percent), Türkiye (5.1 percent), and South Korea (3.6 percent).

In 2022, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $50 billion – up by 18.5 percent or $7.8 billion, year-on-year ($42.1 billion in 2021). Exports from Uzbekistan in 2022 totaled $19.3 billion, while imports to the country amounted to $30.6 billion.
