At the 60th session of the Subsidiary Body of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change held in Bonn, Germany, several NGOs participating in the session issued a statement appreciating Azerbaijan’s efforts in promoting dialogue and cooperation with all interested parties as the host country of COP29, APA reports.

The statement was signed by representatives of 102 NGOs and public activists from 31 countries.

APA presents the statement: “We, the undersigned civil society organizations express our support to the COP29 Presidency and Azerbaijan, the host country as they are going to head the significant task of guiding the global community towards a sustainable and greener future.

Civil society enriches climate change negotiations by providing critical advocacy, expertise, monitoring, public mobilization, representation, and innovative solutions. From raising public awareness on climate issues to advocate for stronger climate policies, we bring the concerns of various communities, especially vulnerable an
d marginalized groups, to the forefront of negotiations.

In this regard, the role of COP29 Presidency and host country Azerbaijan in fostering dialogue and cooperation with all stakeholders is significantly important. It is imperative to ensure that the voices of vulnerable and marginalized communities, including indigenous peoples, women, and youth, are heard and considered in the negotiation process.

By recognizing the pivotal role of civil society in driving climate action, actively involve non-state actors in decision-making processes, prioritizing the needs of people and the planet, we forecast that Azerbaijan will host the most inclusive COP ever.

By stressing the needs and multiple crises the developing world suffers from, expressing deep concerns on the vulnerability of Small Island countries, Azerbaijan shed light on the burdens on millions of lives in the developing world.

As COP29 assumes the mantle of global leadership in addressing climate change, we, the participants of 60th sessions of the
Subsidiary Bodies have full confidence in the ability of the COP29 Presidency and Azerbaijan to facilitate meaningful collaboration, drive ambitious commitments, build consensus between developed and developing worlds, address the gaps in finance mobilization and chart a course towards a more equitable future for all.

Civil society in Bonn stands ready to collaborate with all stakeholders in achieving the goals of climate agreements. Together, we can ensure that COP29 marks a significant milestone in our global journey towards a sustainable and resilient future.

BAKU: The Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation held an international scientific and methodological conference on “Spiritual values and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples” in the Visit Center of the ‘Tanbaly’ Museum-Reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event, organized under the auspices of the Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of the Almaty region, the State Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum- Reserve “Tanbaly”, is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the inclusion of Tanbaly monuments in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List (2004).

Within the framework of the event, the first meeting of the Advisory Council of Restorers and Architectural Historians established under the auspices of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in order to preserve and popularize the Turkic cultural heritage both in the countries of the Turkic world and beyond was held.

nt of the Republic of Kazakhstan Malik Otarbayev, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova, Chairperson of the Culture Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kumis Seitova, the team of the State Institute of History and the State Historical, Cultural and Natural Reserve-Museum Tanbaly, as well as over 20 historical scientists from 6 countries.

At the conference with the participation of leading experts in Turkology (archaeologists and historians) from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Trkiye, Uzbekistan, as well as other Turkic peoples, prospects for regional cooperation in the field of research and protection, as well as restoration of the Turkic archaeological heritage were discussed.

Speaking at the conference president of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova noted that this conference is a single platform that unites archaeologists, historians, specialists of the Turkic world and promotes mutual exchan
ge of experience. She underlined that the agenda of the conference includes issues such as the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples, as well as the development of strategies for its promotion on a global scale.

Aktoty Raimkulova highlighted the holding of the first meeting of the Advisory Council of Restorers and Architectural Historians, established under the auspices of the Foundation, within the framework of the event: “The activities of the Council include participation in the study and preservation of cultural heritage sites of the Turkic peoples, as well as in the development of restoration as an integral part of the field of preservation of architectural monuments, assistance to research and publishing activities of specialists and architectural scientists for the study and restoration of immovable cultural heritage, which will contribute to the popularization of the cultural heritage of the Turkic world”.

President of the Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova expressed confidence that
the conference will become a bright stage in the preservation and promotion of the Turkic cultural heritage, as well as in the development of the scientific and practical potential of the Turkic world.

The event also included the opening of the scientific and restoration laboratory of rock paintings in the visit center of the State Historical, Cultural and Natural “Tanbaly” Museum-Reserve.

Matters of energy partnership and fostering of bilateral investments between Azerbaijan and Albania were discussed, the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov posted on his X account in this regard, APA-Economics reports.

‘During the meeting with Belinda Balluku, Albania’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, we discussed collaborative economic initiatives, strengthening our energy partnership, and fostering investment opportunities between our nations,’ – Mikayil Jabbarov said in his post.

DUSHANBE: The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is committed to contributing to Tajikistan’s growth and prosperity, said the bank’s President and Group Chairman, Muhammad Al Jasser, at the National Development Council (NDC) meeting chaired by President Emomali Rahmon, Trend reports.

“The success of Tajikistan is our success. IsDB’s strategic framework for Tajikistan will boost our ongoing cooperation and enhance our interventions in the country,” Al Jasser stated.

He emphasized continued support for Tajikistan’s national development, highlighting key projects like the Rogun hydropower plant, which promotes green energy and water management and unlocks the country’s immense potential.

Al Jasser reaffirmed the IsDB’s support for the national development drive, emphasizing significant investments in green infrastructure, education, and agriculture.

“I applaud the efforts of the Government of Tajikistan to diversify the economy and enhance the role of the private sector. This is evidenced by the increased priva
te sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product. With a strategic framework to enhance cooperation and a focus on leveraging the nation’s young talent, natural resources, and visionary leadership, we are dedicated to supporting Tajikistan’s crucial role in Central Asia,” he said.

The Islamic Development Bank Group’s support for Tajikistan has been steadily growing over the years, covering 105 projects with a total investment of $915.5 million. About 50 percent of the financing has gone to infrastructure projects ($532 million), followed by education (16 percent, $150 million), and agriculture (15 percent, $136.4 million).
