Shamkir: A person suspected of killing a 12-year-old girl in Shamkir has been detained, APA's local bureau reports. The victim's 16-year-old sister, identified as S. Rahimova, was apprehended by police officers on suspicion of committing the murder. The investigation into the tragic incident is ongoing.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, at around 9:00 p.m. on July 24, 2026, the body of a female minor born in 2014 was brought to the Emergency Department of the Shamkir District Central Hospital. Earlier in the day, APA's local bureau reported that the girl, identified as A. Namazova from Mahmudlu village in the Shamkir district, had been transported to the hospital in critical condition suffering from stab wounds.

Despite the medical assistance provided, efforts to save her life were unsuccessful. Preliminary information suggests that the girl's parents had reported her missing to the police earlier that day. She was later discovered injured in the yard of their home.

Police officers are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
