Baku: Swedish media have drawn attention to 18-year-old Rihad Alakberov, who is running for the G¤vle municipal council in the upcoming elections as a candidate for the Moderate Party.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Swedish broadcaster SVT featured both the youngest and oldest candidates running for the G¤vle municipal council. Alakberov, who recently turned 18, stands out alongside Ken Kubulenso of the Green Party, who, at 95, is the oldest candidate. Despite the significant 77-year age gap, both candidates expressed their desire to contribute to societal development and shared their perspectives on politics and life.

In an interview with SVT, Rihad Alakberov highlighted a particular issue where his stance diverges from the dominant view within his party. He expressed support for maintaining Sweden's state monopoly on alcohol sales, a position not widely held within the Moderate Party, which generally favors abolishing it.

During the interview, Ken Kubulenso offered words of encouragement to the young candidate, urging Alakberov to continue his political endeavors and strive for societal improvement and development.
