Imishli: A mass poisoning incident in Azerbaijan’s Imishli district has resulted in 20 people being hospitalized with suspected poisoning.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the individuals, including 7 males and 13 females, among them 4 children, were admitted to the Emergency Medical Care Department of the Imishli District Central Hospital. They exhibited symptoms of nausea, fever, and diarrhea after attending a wedding ceremony in Muradkhanli village.

The patients were diagnosed with non-infectious enteritis and colitis and have been receiving necessary medical treatment. Currently, 14 patients remain in the Emergency Department, four children in the Pediatrics Department, one man in the Polyclinic Department, and one woman in the Infectious Diseases Department. All patients’ conditions are reported as stable.

The Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AQTA) has initiated an investigation into the incident alongside relevant agencies. According to AQTA, specialists inspected the site where the wedding took place and conducted examinations. The agency highlighted the importance of proper food handling practices, emphasizing storage conditions, temperature control, hygiene, and safe transportation rules. The investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released once available.
