The club and I have a similar DNA – Vlahovic unveiled at Juventus

Following a late charge, Juventus managed to sign Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina in a deal worth almost 75 million euros, according to the club.

The striker was the Bianconeri’s ultimate target for the role, and the supporters were left delighted with the transfer.

The 22-year-old completed his medicals last Friday before signing the contract.

On Tuesday, Juventus unveiled their new star in a press conference, where he spoke about his great excitement having joined the club.

The former Viola man made sure to thank everyone who helped him at Fiorentina, before explaining why he chose Juventus.

“First of all, I want to thank Fiorentina, my first team and Primavera teammates. Thanks to Barone, Pradé, Della Valle, Commisso and all the coaches of the last few years, especially Vincenzo Italiano who has supported me until the end.” Vlahovic said at his unveiling press conference as translated by Football Italia.

“I wish him good luck. I also think of Prandelli. He made so many things for me and I will forever be grateful to him. Fiorentina welcomed me nicely when I arrived and I always tried to give my best, being professional until the end.

“Now, I am thrilled and proud to have signed with Juventus.

“A glorious club. I am ready to give my best for the team and obtain great results. I want to thank Juventus President and all the people that brought me here.”

Despite receiving great interest from several Premier League clubs, Vlahovic remained adamant on joining the Bianconeri, because he feels that he and the club share a similar mentality.

“There were many rumours about foreign clubs, but the choice was easy because the club and I have a similar DNA. Fight and suffer when needed. I think it’s part of my mentality as well, so the choice was not difficult,” the striker claimed.

Despite choosing to wear the number seven jersey, the Serbian limited the importance of wearing Cristiano Ronaldo’s number.

“The No.7 jersey represents nothing. All the numbers are important here. I chose it because it’s the closest to No.9,” Vlahovic said.

“I am here to help my teammates and reach our targets. The shirt number is not important. Determination and commitment are what matter the most. I don’t care about the rest. The most important thing is to win games.”

The young bomber should make his debut next Sunday, when Juventus host Hellas Verona the Allianz Stadium.

Leyla Abdullayeva: Azerbaijan has mutually beneficial and successfully developing relations with international organizations

“We bring to the attention of the Armenian Foreign Minister that the activity of any international organization in the sovereign lands of our country is a bilateral issue between Azerbaijan and the related international organization. The comment of the representative of the third side on this issue is inappropriate and baseless. The Armenian Foreign Minister should rather comment on the issues related to the implementation of his country’s commitments and the peace building in the region,” said spokesperson for Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Leyla Abdullayeva as she responded to media’s question regarding the Armenian Foreign Minister’s statement on “Azerbaijan’s obstruction of the activities of international organizations in Karabakh”.

“First of all, we would like to emphasize that Azerbaijan has mutually beneficial and successfully developing relations with international organizations. The active participation of our country in multilateral platforms, as well as the successful experience of chairmanship in a number of organizations are well-known.

As for the activities of international organizations in Azerbaijan, we would like to remind you that in accordance with the UN General Assembly resolution on the coordination of humanitarian aid dated December 19, 1991, such activities must be based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the host country. The activities of international organizations in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan are carried out in accordance with this principle,” Leyla Abdullayeva said.

Wild Siberian tiger footprints found in NE China mountains

The footprints of wild Siberian tigers were found in northeast China’s Greater Khingan Range by a Chinese research team recently, marking the first appearance of the trail of the rare species in the mountainous area in over 50 years, according to Xinhua.

The reappearance of these tigers was confirmed after discoveries of snow footprints and feces of tigers and following DNA identification tests, said the National Forestry and Grassland Administration Sunday.

The team led by Zhou Shaochun, a zoologist of the wildlife research institute of Heilongjiang Province, found footprints in the snow, suspected to be Siberian tiger tracks, in Beijicun national natural reserve on December 29, 2021.

Four feces samples were collected during footprint tracking and later proved to belong to Siberian tigers.

“The discovery comes more than 50 years after the last time the trail of Siberian tigers was found on record in the Greater Khingan Range,” Zhang Minghai, an expert on wildlife and habitat protection at the Northeast Forestry University, said.

Along with the Lesser Khingan, the Greater Khingan is one of the most important virgin forest reserves in northeast China.

Although the recent finding does not mean the long-term settlement of Siberian tigers, it still reflects the improvement of wildlife habitats in the region and the restoration of food chains, said Zhang.

Zhang also noted the sound trend of expanding the distribution of such tigers in China.

Siberian tigers, also known as Amur or Manchurian tigers, mainly inhabit eastern Russia, northeast China, and the northern part of the Korean Peninsula, and are on China’s first-class protection list.

The species were widely distributed in northeast China at the beginning of the 20th century, with the Greater Khingan Range as one of their prime habitats. However, a survey conducted from 1974 to 1976 showed the tigers had disappeared in the mountainous area due to various reasons.

U.S. grants full approval to Moderna’s COVID vaccine in adults

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday gave full approval to Moderna Inc’s ( MKRNA.O) COVID-19 vaccine for people age 18 and older, making it the second fully approved vaccine for the virus, according to Reuters.

The Moderna vaccine has been authorized for emergency use in the United States since December 2020, and will now be sold under the brand name Spikevax. Pfizer ( PFE.N) and BioNTech’s COVID-19 shot using similar technology received full approval in the United States last year for people aged 16 and older after also first gaining emergency authorization.

Nearly 75 million people have already received Moderna’s two-dose vaccine in the United States, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“The public can be assured that Spikevax meets the FDA’s high standards for safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality required of any vaccine approved for use in the United States,” Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock said in a statement.

Moderna’s vaccine is cleared for use in more than 70 countries, including Canada and the European Union.
