Türkiye to submit official letter to UN, international organizations for new global brand

Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Tuesday announced his country’s official submission of letter to the United Nations and other international organizations to request the usage of ‘Türkiye’ instead of ‘Turkey’ in the international arena, according to Anadolu Agency.

“Together with our Directorate of Communications, we have been successful in preparing a good ground for this. We have made it possible for the UN and other international organizations, countries to see this change to using ‘Türkiye’,” Cavusoglu said at Anadolu Agency’s Editor’s Desk at the agency’s headquarters in the capital Ankara.

Citing Turkish Airlines’ “Hello Türkiye” campaign, Cavusoglu said the campaign was seen by more than 30 million people.

As part of the campaign, the Directorate of Communications shared a promotional video, which was prepared to strengthen the Turkish brand, on its social media accounts.

Foreign tourists from different parts of Türkiye are seen waving greetings by saying “Hello Türkiye” in the video.

Cavusoglu also said a circular published in the Official Gazette noted that the phrase “Made in Türkiye” would be used instead of “Made in Turkey” in export products.

Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister meets with head of EIB Regional Representation

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has met with Head of the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) Regional Representation for the South Caucasus Maciej Czura, Minister Jabbarov posted on his Twitter account.

“During the meeting with Maciej Czura, Head of the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) Regional Representation for the South Caucasus, we discussed the implementation of ongoing and planned projects, economic development of our country, investment opportunities, as well as the prospects of cooperation with the Bank”, the minister noted.

Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry: More than 2,300 hectares of area completely cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance in May

As a result of the activities carried out by the Engineer-sapper units of the Azerbaijan Army in the liberated territories, more than 2,300 hectares of the area were completely cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance throughout May, the Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.

“To date, more than 18,600 hectares of the area in the liberated territories have been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance by the engineer-sapper units. In total, more than 6,000 anti-personnel mines, more than 2,100 anti-tank mines, and more than 9,400 unexploded ordnances have been detected and neutralized.

The main efforts are aimed at demining settlements, sowing plots, roads, and infrastructure facilities in the liberated territories.

Necessary activities on engineering support continue in the liberated territories,” the ministry said.

US President Joseph Biden: Azerbaijan continues to have a committed partner in the United States

“During the 30 years of diplomatic relations we have enjoyed between the United States and the Republic of Azerbaijan, we have become strong partners in combatting transnational threats, advancing energy security, and encouraging bilateral trade and investment. As you host the International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition in Baku, I want to assure you that Azerbaijan continues to have a committed partner in the United States,” says US President Joseph Biden in his letter addressed to President Ilham Aliyev on the opening of the International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition.

“Diversification is more important than ever in addressing our energy security goals, and Azerbaijan has played a central role in regional efforts toward this goal.

Azerbaijan is also critical to realizing the immense potential of trans-Caspian cooperation to help stabilize markets in the region and globally. Japan foreign minister contracts COVID-19, staying home until June 11

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday and will recuperate at home until at least June 11, officials said, according to Kyodo news.

Hayashi is experiencing only mild symptoms, according to the Foreign Ministry. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told a press conference that no one at the ministry or the prime minister’s office has been identified as a close contact.

Hayashi felt pain in his throat when he went to the ministry on Wednesday morning, and took a PCR test for the coronavirus, an official said.

He skipped a session of the House of Representatives Budget Committee in the afternoon and also canceled separate meetings with a group of U.S. lawmakers and U.S. Forces Korea Commander Gen. Paul LaCamera.
