Iranian rial plummets to historic low against USD/Euro

BAKU, Azerbaijan, The national currency of Iran – the rial, plummeted to a historical low against the US dollar and euro, on February 16, 2023, Trend reports referring to Iranian media.

 

Currently, the price of $1 on the black market in Iran is around 472,000 rials. The figure stood at 462,000 rials on February 15.

 

At the same time, the price of 1 euro on the black market in Iran is currently 504,000 rials, while on February 15, the figure was 496,000 rials.

 

Economic sanctions against Iran by the US and Western Europe countries, ongoing protests, inflation, as well as other problems show that the economic situation in the country is becoming more complicated day by day.

 

In Iran, the official exchange rate (where $1/42,000 rials, and 1 euro/44,869 rials) is used for the import of some essential products.

 

SANA system is a system introduced by the Central Bank of Iran to the currency exchange offices, where the price of 1 euro is 329,057 rials, and the price of $1 is 306,930 rials.

 

NIMA is a system intended for the sale of a certain percentage of the foreign currency gained from export.

 

The price of 1 euro in this system is 305,546 rials, and the price of $1 is 285,000 rials.

Turkmenistan, Sweden discuss co-op within framework of international organizations

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Sweden to Turkmenistan (with residence in Stockholm) Thomas Danestad, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

 

During the meeting, the Turkmen side accepted copies of the Ambassador’s credentials. In addition, they discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation and issues of interaction within the framework of international and regional organizations.

 

The diplomats also expressed the need to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation, and also stressed the need to intensify cooperation to expand trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation by creating new mechanisms of interaction.

 

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further expand multifaceted cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.

 

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan and Sweden established diplomatic relations in 1992. At the moment, the countries are striving to develop cooperation both within the framework of international organizations and at the interstate level.

Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers approves rules for production, use of excise stamps

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers approved the “List of goods produced in the Republic of Azerbaijan or imported into the country subject to mandatory labeling and labeling with an excise stamp, the procedure for regulating their turnover in Azerbaijan, issuing an order for the production of excise stamps and mandatory labeling, their application, implementation and record keeping” in accordance with the decree dated February 14, 2023 No. 48, Trend reports.

 

As it’s known, measures to reduce the scale of the shadow economy, implementation of transparency in the activities of business entities, to combat illegal business are continuously and consistently implemented by the state. These measures have necessitated the active use of information technology in the modern era.

 

To this end, the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan has created a ‘Track and Trace’ unified state automated information system, through which the application is supposed to be implemented.

 

Thus, the introduction of the unified system will allow controlling the circulation of excise goods with mandatory labeling, along the entire chain from production and import to the end consumer. This will contribute to preventing the shadow economy, counterfeiting of excise goods and excise stamps, and ultimately protecting consumer rights.

 

This system has become a strategic priority for businesses and organizations in many countries around the world. Thus, the said System allows the development of solutions that increase the security and reliability of supply chains in order to maintain a competitive position.

 

On December 30, 2022, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed the law on amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, according to which, the list of goods produced in Azerbaijan or imported into the country that are subject to mandatory labeling, the procedure for regulating their turnover on the territory of Azerbaijan, as well as the process of issuing an order for the production of mandatory labeling, its application, sale, and accounting is established by an agency determined by the relevant executive authority.

Turkmenistan to participate in XV International Economic Forum of CIS member states

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan to participate in XV International Economic Forum of CIS Member States, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media outlets.

 

Deputy Chairman of the Government of Turkmenistan in charge of finance and economy Khodjamyrat Geldimyradov will represent the country at the forum, titled “Dialogue of Integrations: CIS, EAEU, SCO, BRICS” which will be held on March 17, 2023 in Moscow.

 

According to the information, the forum, which aims to establish long-term partnerships between the CIS, EAEU, BRICS and SCO platforms, will give the heads of ministries, departments and large financial structures an opportunity to discuss issues of integration and industrial cooperation.

 

The forum will host a series of lectures on finance, industry, healthcare, transport, logistics and the green economy.

 

Meanwhile, this forum is designed to identify the interests of integration associations of the Eurasian continent for the subsequent coordination of projects between the countries.

Turkmenistan, Russia seek to expand joint participation in energy projects

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Russia cooperates with Turkmenistan at various levels both bilaterally, including in the format of an intergovernmental commission, and multilaterally, primarily within the framework of the CIS Electric Power Council, a source in the Ministry of Energy of Russia told Trend.

 

It was noted that Turkmenistan and Russia actively cooperate in the oil and gas and electric power sectors.

 

“The basis of our cooperation in the electric power industry is created by the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2020 between the Ministries of Energy of Russia and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of electric power. The document records the readiness of the parties to assist companies in the implementation of joint and cross-border projects,” the Russian Energy Ministry said.

 

Furthermore, it was stressed that a meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in December 2022, following which the parties agreed on the need to expand the areas of joint participation in energy projects, as well as increase the degree of interaction between relevant departments and companies of the two countries.

 

The Russian Ministry of Energy added that the implementation of these goals in the future will make it possible to more effectively solve the tasks facing both countries in the energy sector, as well as form the basis for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Investment value of Azerbaijan’s first industrial explosives plant made public

BAKU, Azerbaijan, The investment value of Azerbaijan’s first industrial explosives plant, AzerBlast LLC, which will be constructed in Ganja, is 14 million manat ($8.2 million), said Executive Director of the AzerBlast LLC Rizvan Bakhshiyev at a press conference dedicated to the project, Trend reports.

 

“Of these, 5.5 million manat ($3.2 million) are set for construction, 4 million manat ($2.3 million) for the purchase of equipment, and the rest is for operating expenses. We expect that after the launch of the enterprise, the investment will fully pay off in 5.3 years. The company’s revenues in the first six years are projected at 90 million manat ($52.9 million),” the executive director said.

 

According to him, the plant will be built on an area of 15 hectares, and its total area will be 5,665 square meters.

 

“The production capacity of the plant will amount to 31,000 tons per year, and the main products manufactured will be explosives, which are used in the mining industry and road construction. At the initial stage, it is planned to produce 500 tons of explosives per month or 6,000 tons per year,” he said.

 

“The needs of AzerGold CJSC for explosives at gold and iron ore deposits are projected at 1,445 tons, and the needs of Dashkasan Iron Ore LLC – 1,735 tons. Explosives will also be manufactured for other organizations involved in mining and other industrial sectors,” he added.
