The population of Azerbaijan is 10,127,145 people

According to the results of the 2019 population census, the recalculated population as of January 1 of this year was 10 million 127145 people. This was reported by the State Statistics Committee. 54.6% of the population are urban residents, 45.4% are rural residents, 49.8% are men, 50.2% are women.

 

At the beginning of this year, 4.6% of the population lived in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 23.1% – in Baku, 9.2% – in Lankaran-Astara, 8.6% – in Absheron-Khizi, and 7.3% – in Karabakh , in Central Aran – 7.1%

 

6.6% – in Gazakh-Tovuz, 6.2% – Sheki-Zagatala, 5.9% – Ganja-Dashkesan, 5.4% – Guba-Khachmaz, 5.1% – Mil-Mugan, 4.8% – Shirvan – Salyan, 3.1% – in Mountainous Shirvan, 3.0% – in East Zangezur.

 

The population per square kilometer on average for the country was 117 people. This figure is in Baku (1092 people), Absheron-Khizi (234 people) and Lankaran-Astara (153 people). .

 

The State Statistics Committee reports that in 2022, 61,939 marriages and 15,983 divorces were registered in the country. It was noted that the number of marriages per 1000 people increased from 5.6 to 6.1 compared to 2021, and the number of divorces decreased from 1.7 to 1.6.

 

Last year, the relevant institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Migration Service registered the arrival of 2,869 people in Azerbaijan for permanent residence.

 

According to the State Statistics Committee, last year 1,069 people left Azerbaijan, and the balance of migration in the country amounted to positive 1,800 people

Protest action in front of the Court of Appeal that did not release Bakhtiyar Hajiyev

On Monday, a group of civil society activists held a protest in front of the Court of Appeal, which did not release Bakhtiyar Hajiyev from arrest.

 

They chanted: “Don’t kill, free!”, “Bakhtiyar has the right to be free!” The police pushed the protesters away from the court building and detained five people: Afiyaddin Mammadov, Samir Sultanov, Neymat Abbasov, Ali Melikov and Narmin Shahmarzade.

 

The rest of the participants told reporters that Bakhtiyar could die at any moment and should be released immediately. However, Judge Habil Mammadov did not take this into account.

 

Today, Bakhtiyar was brought to court by force, although he applied in writing not to be touched because of his poor health. On the way to court, his health deteriorated and vomited bile, protesters said. They said they would continue to protest in public places

Commander of the Georgian Armed Forces discussed issues of intensifying joint military exercises in Baku

On February 20, Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces Kerim Veliyev met with the commander of the Georgian Defense Forces Giorgi Matiashvili, who arrived in Baku on an official visit.

 

During the talks at the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the military delegations of the two countries discussed issues of further strengthening cooperation in the military, military-technical fields, the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

 

They also considered the prospects for trilateral military cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, as well as “increasing the intensity of joint exercises and working meetings.”

 

The Georgian delegation also visited the Combat Command Center of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, where they got acquainted with the structure of the center and the principle of the Center’s work

Biden announced a new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine

It is noted that officially the provision of a new package of assistance from Washington will be announced tomorrow, February 21.

 

“The package announced today includes ammunition for HIMARS and howitzers, more Javelins, anti-tank systems, aerial surveillance systems to protect the Ukrainian people from bombing,” the US president said.

 

In addition, Biden announced commitments for the supply of weapons – more than 700 tanks, thousands of armored vehicles, a thousand artillery systems, more than 2 million artillery shells and so on.

 

On January 20, Washington announced a new $2.5 billion package of military assistance to Ukraine, which included hundreds of armored vehicles, air defense systems, missiles and other weapons
