“Everything Everywhere All at Once” won the prestigious best picture trophy at the Academy Awards on Sunday as Hollywood embraced an offbeat story about a Chinese-American family working out their problems across multiple dimensions, Trend reports citing Reuters.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” won the prestigious best picture trophy at the Academy Awards on Sunday as Hollywood embraced an offbeat story about a Chinese-American family working out their problems across multiple dimensions.

The movie claimed three of the four acting Oscars for stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis. Yeoh played the lead role of a stressed-out laundromat owner who finds she has superpowers in alternate universes.

“For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities,” the 60-year-old Malaysian actress said on stage. “And ladies, don’t let anybody ever tell you you are ever past your prime.”

First Republic secures new facility from JPMorgan

U.S. private bank First Republic Bank said on Sunday it had secured additional financing through JPMorgan Chase & Co, giving it access to a total of $70 billion in funds through various sources, Trend reports with reference to Reuters.

First Republic’s announcement came after its share price was hit last week in the aftermath of a run on SVB Financial Group.

Silicon Valley Bank’s collapse on Friday prompted U.S. Federal Reserve and other regulators to announce a series of emergency measures to shore up confidence in the banking system.

In a statement, First Republic said additional borrowing capacity from the U.S. Federal Reserve as well as that from JPMorgan had boosted the amount of liquidity it had available.

Brendan Fraser wins Oscar for best actor

Brendan Fraser won the Oscar Sunday night for best actor Sunday night for his performance in “The Whale,” kicking off a new era for the once ubiquitous ’90s star who became largely absent from the big screen for much of the last decade, Trend reports citing abc13.

“I started in this business 30 years ago,” an emotional Fraser said. “Things didn’t come easily to me but there was a facility that I didn’t appreciate at the time until it stopped.”

The crowd at the Dolby Theater erupted in what seemed like one of the loudest ovations of the night when he was announced.

“I just wanted to say thank you for this acknowledgment,” Fraser said.

Fraser, the 54-year-old former action star known for “The Mummy” and “George of the Jungle,” doesn’t mind that people have called his turn a “comeback.” But it’s not the word he’d choose.
