Kyiv: 22 new projects involving 105 organisations from Ukraine have been recommended for funding under the European Union Erasmus+ Programme for Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education Action (CBHE) in 2026. This year, the 180 projects proposed for funding include the participation as partners or coordinators of over 1,639 higher education stakeholders from almost 116 countries. Ukraine is in the top 5 leaders by the number of projects recommended for funding. According to European Union, the new 22 projects for Ukraine focus on a European approach to sustainable development in higher education, education resilience and post-war rebuilding, green and digital transitions, water and climate resilience, modernisation of STEAM education, sustainable materials engineering, eco-design and resilient manufacturing technology, smart mobility, good governance, social impact learning, resilient and inclusive communities, research management excellence, sustainable entrepreneurship for reconstruction and inte rnationalisation, dual education, and other areas. The projects are categorized into three strands based on their impact and the experience of partners: 1) Fostering access to cooperation, 2) Partnerships for Transformation, and 3) Structural reforms. Among the funded projects, 15 are national projects, 4 are regional, and 3 are cross-regional. The project teams include 194 partners from 29 countries, with 79 partners from Programme Countries and 27 from Partner Countries, representing a diverse range of nations. Notably, 105 partners from Ukraine represent 61 higher education institutions, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, the National Qualification Agency, and 10 other organisations. These include IT clusters, business organisations, scientific and methodological centers, and NGOs. Ten Ukrainian universities act as 11 project grantholders-coordinators including the National University Kyiv Aviation Institute, Lviv Polytechnic Nat ional University, and others. The projects encompass a wide range of institutions representing different sectors and regions of Ukraine, including 60 HEIs that span state, communal, and private institutions. Since the inception of Erasmus+ calls from 2015 to 2026, 140 CBHE projects have been funded by the EU for Ukraine, contributing to higher education reforms, Eurointegration processes, and the development of a new Ukraine based on innovations and best practices from EU Member States Universities.
