27th Session of PUIC General Committee Convenes in Baku

Baku: The 27th session of the General Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) member states took place in Baku on June 23, as reported by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis to APA. The session was presided over by Rafael Huseynov, Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis and head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PUIC.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Rafael Huseynov, in his opening address, highlighted that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation was among the first international organizations Azerbaijan joined post-independence. He acknowledged the enduring support of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation during Azerbaijan's occupation period. Huseynov emphasized the PUIC's role as a crucial platform for member states to discuss shared interests.

PUIC Secretary General Mohammed Khuraichi Niass, who spoke subsequently, underscored the significance of cooperation, dialogue, and mutual understanding within the organization. He praised the host country's organizational efforts and expressed optimism that the meeting would yield productive discussions, decisions, and recommendations.

During the session, participants approved the organization's financial report for 2025 and examined draft budget proposals for the subsequent year. Additionally, as part of organizational proceedings, the draft updated agenda for the 20th session of the PUIC Conference was reviewed, and relevant decisions were made.
