Aghdaban: 34 years have passed since the massacre committed by Armenia against Azerbaijanis in the Aghdaban village of the Kalbajar region. Armenian Armed Forces and Armenian military units in Karabakh committed atrocities against the civilians of Aghdaban over the night from April 7th to 8th, 1992. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during the occupation, all 130 houses of the village were set on fire, 779 peaceful residents were massacred, and 32 individuals were killed by torture. Eight men aged between 99-100 years, two babies, and seven women were cremated alive. Additionally, 12 residents were grievously harmed, and two others went missing. Armenian forces destroyed and devastated historical-architectural and cultural monuments, shrines, and cemeteries from the Turkic-Islamic period in the village. Manuscripts and the house museum of notable Azerbaijani poet Ashug Gurban and his son Ashug Shamshir were also burned. Aghdaban village is situated in the Kalbajar Region of Azerbaijan, 56 km from the regional center. Today, Aghdaban residents remain in their native land.
