Geneva: The 35th High-Level Meeting, themed 'Reshaping Multilateralism in an Era of Divides and Transformation,' has commenced in Geneva, Switzerland. The event is organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC) in partnership with the UN Office at Geneva.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the international platform hosts extensive discussions on the future of global governance, the adaptation of multilateral institutions to the evolving world order, the climate crisis and sustainable development, artificial intelligence and technological transformation, peace and security, humanitarian challenges, migration and global health, inclusive economies, the role of women in leadership, as well as global housing and urban planning issues.
During the discussions, special attention was paid to the preparations for the 13th Global Baku Forum, organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center. Additionally, issues related to the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to take place in Baku on May 17-22, were deliberated.
The event gathers more than 50 high-level participants from over 30 countries, including former heads of state and government, heads of UN agencies, representatives of international organizations, and renowned experts.
The opening ceremony featured Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO); Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD); Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU); Anacl¡udia Rossbach, Executive Director of UN-Habitat; Amr Moussa, former Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and former Foreign Minister of Egypt; Boris Tadic, former President of Serbia; and Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan and WUF13 National Coordinator.
Additionally, a special appeal by Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former President of the Republic of Latvia and Co-Chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, was delivered during the opening ceremony.
