Baku: 58,000 families in Azerbaijan have become homeowners through mortgage mechanisms, according to Azerbaijan's First Deputy Finance Minister Anar Karimov. The announcement was made during the session titled 'A New Deal for Housing Finance' held within the framework of WUF13. Karimov emphasized the broader implications of housing policy, highlighting its impact on people's future, social inclusivity, and equal opportunities.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Karimov noted that approximately 3 billion people worldwide may require housing in the next two decades, stressing the need for accessible, inclusive, and financially sustainable housing finance systems. Over the past 20 years, Azerbaijan has developed a housing finance system that integrates social inclusivity with financial sustainability.
The First Deputy Finance Minister stated that the Mortgage and Credit Guarantee Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan has emerged as a key institutional component of the nation's domestic housing finance system. Karimov highlighted that the fund has financed over 58,000 mortgage loans and facilitated 9,000 housing sales through rental mechanisms to date.
