Baku: The 5th meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) convened today at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku. The meeting was chaired by Colonel General Ramil Usubov, Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who conveyed an address from President Ilham Aliyev to the attendees. Representatives from Trkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and the Secretariat of the OTS were present.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ramil Usubov delivered a report highlighting emerging security challenges due to global geoeconomic confrontations, conflicts, and the weakening of international law. The annual gatherings of the Security Council Secretaries were noted as vital for preventing threats and enhancing joint response mechanisms. These meetings also play a crucial role in fostering security cooperation among OTS member states and protecting shared interests.
The meeting's agenda focused on regional security issues, particularly in light of developments in the Middle East, and national opportunities in artificial intelligence, among other significant topics. Delegation heads delivered speeches addressing these issues. Discussions included strategies for implementing security tasks based on agreements between OTS member state leaders and the Gabala Declaration provisions signed on October 7, 2025.
The meeting underscored the increasing influence of the Organization of Turkic States in global geopolitics, as highlighted by President Aliyev. He pointed out that the historic Victory had reshaped the regional geopolitical landscape, paving the way for the Zangezur Corridor's implementation, which promises economic, logistical, and strategic benefits.
The assembly, a follow-up to last year's event in Bishkek, focused on enhancing security cooperation, tackling regional security challenges, and exploring development opportunities, notably in artificial intelligence, amid ongoing Middle Eastern developments.
